Katy Perry came under fire this past weekend after she joked that dying her black hair blonde was like former President Barack Obama being replaced by Donald Trump.
Us Weekly reported that the incident occurred during an Instagram Live session on Saturday where the 32-year-old pop star read a series of fan questions.
Oh, someone says, I miss your old black hair, she said. Oh, really? Do you miss Barack Obama as well? Oh, OK. Times change. Bye! See you guys later.

The Bon Appétit singer then started laughing and turned around to look at her friends, seemingly searching for their approval on what she viewed as a humorous comment. I should leave now, she said. OK, youre cut off, replied a friend off-camera before the livestream came to an end.
Viewers quickly went to Twitter and expressed their criticism over Perrys commentary.

#KatyPerry should keep Barack Obama's name out of her mouth... She should however get a dentist to work on those bottom teeth...

Sometimes when I think that the world is an awful place, I remember that Barack Obama has more Grammys than Katy Perry, and I feel better.

Wow Katy Perry. The reference to former Pres. Obama was offensive & a poor, tasteless attempt at humor. Your privilege is showing.

Perry was previously a vocal advocate for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton throughout the presidential elections in 2016. She has yet to publicly acknowledge her controversial joke.
